IN TIBET
A solo nun stages protest march in Kardze (TCHRD)
Summary: A nun staged a sole protest in Kardze TAP, Sichuan (Eastern Tibet) on 6 March 2009. She shouted pro-Tibet slogans and was beaten and detained by Chinese security personnel.
According to sources, a nun Lobsang Khandro, age 21, from Gema Dra-wok Nunnery in Thing-ka Township, Kardze County, Kardze TAP, Sichuan Province  staged a solo protest march at around 10 am on 6 March 2009. Lobsang Khandro was carrying pamphlets, political literature on Tibet and some prayer flags and she shouted slogans such as "No Freedom in Tibet", "Tibetan People Rise Up, Rise Up", "Long Live the Dalai Lama" and "Chinese Authorities Release all Political Prisoners". A few minutes after her protest march, Chinese security personnel  arrested her and subjected her to severe beatings.
