May 23: Anniversary of the 17 Point Agreement
Start : 23 May 2009
On May 23, 1951, representatives of the Tibetan Government and the Chinese Government signed an agreement which formally incorporated the Tibet into China. The 17 Point Agreement was first of all signed under duress and secondly not carried through by the Chinese government, contributing to the Tibetan National Uprising in March 1959.
A lively discussion reminiscent of the contemporary Sino-Tibet history would be an ideal event for this day.
