Dalai Lama to visit Slovenia
LJUBLJANA - THE Dalai Lama will visit Slovenia in April, following an invitation by the city of Maribor, authorities said on Monday.
'The visit has been confirmed, the Dalai Lama will visit Slovenia between April 12 and 14,' a spokesman for Maribor mayor Franc Kangler told state television, adding that the mayor would meet the Tibetan spiritual leader.

The 11th Penchen Rinpoche, Gedun Choekyi Nyima was born on April 25, 1989. He was recognised as the reincarnation of 10th Penchen Rinpoche by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1995. Soon after the announcemnet him and his family has been abducted by the Chiense authority and they hav not been seen in public for 16 years. On this day he will be 21 years old.
Recently, Tibetan official in Tibet admitted that he was living in Tibet.
The city of Shanghai will host the world expo from May 1 to October 31, 2010. China will invite many world leaders and millions of people are expected to attend the 6 month long event.
A key date for the Tibet is the opening of the Tibet Pavilion, a 600 Square meter exhibition called 'Heavenly Tibet'. An event called, week of Tibet will take place between Septem 1 - 5.

Dalai Lama to visit Slovenia
LJUBLJANA - THE Dalai Lama will visit Slovenia in April, following an invitation by the city of Maribor, authorities said on Monday.
'The visit has been confirmed, the Dalai Lama will visit Slovenia between April 12 and 14,' a spokesman for Maribor mayor Franc Kangler told state television, adding that the mayor would meet the Tibetan spiritual leader.
The Dalai Lama was invited by Maribor University, the city's authorities and a secondary school to give a lecture to young people on humanitarian issues.
After Maribor, Slovenia's second-largest city, he was also expected to visit Ljubljana, state television reported. No details were available about his programme there.
So far no other meeting with Slovenian officials has been confirmed. The Tibetan leader visited Slovenia in 2002, when he met unofficially with several high-ranking Slovenian politicians.
China repeatedly presses other nations to distance themselves from the Dalai Lama, claiming that Tibet is an integral part of the country and that any meeting with him constitutes interference in Chinese internal affairs. -- AFP

Folk music exists for many as another musical brand or label, surrounded by iPods, instant downloads and an ever-changing onslaught of new music and performers; a simple song is easily taken for granted. But in Tibet, a country the size of Western Europe, folk songs serve as the connecting tissue between regions, passed down in the oral tradition through an increasingly fragmented region, much of which still remains under harsh Communist Chinese rule after 50 years of occupation. China’s “patriotic re-education” of Tibetan citizens through its dissemination of nationalistic pop songs is designed to wipe out Tibetan culture through a rigid, unwavering system of control. Tibet in Song examines what happens when one man, a Tibetan native who fled his country of origin for India at the age of two, returns home to capture the music of his people before all is lost to the ashes of time and history. Director and producer Choepel was arrested in Tibet on charges of espionage by Chinese authorities in 1995. Accused of collecting sensitive material on China, he was sentenced to 18 years in prison, serving nearly 7 before his highly publicized release in 2002.
