In April 1989 hundreds of thousands of students and ordinary Chinese gathered on Tiananmen Square (a.k.a. The Gate of Heavely Peace) to demanding greater freedom and democracy. The protest lasted for seven weeks until 4 June, when the Chinese Communist leaders despatched military and tanks on the protester killing thousands.
Every year the day is commemmorated everywhere in the world, except in China.

May 1 - October 31: World Expo Shanghai
The city of Shanghai will host the world expo from May 1 to October 31, 2010. China will invite many world leaders and millions of people are expected to attend the 6 month long event.
A key date for the Tibet is the opening of the Tibet Pavilion, a 600 Square meter exhibition called 'Heavenly Tibet'. An event called, week of Tibet will take place between Septem 1 - 5.
