On 6 July, 1935 the 14th Dalai Lama was born in a remote area in eastern Tibet.

On this day, Tibetans and supporters will celebrete the day in grand fashion. In Tibet, even though public celebration is banned on this day, Tibetans will celebreate in subtle yet powerful ways: by wearing colorful Tibetan dresses; by visiting temples; by having a grand party at home.

June 4: Tiananmen Square Massacre

In April 1989 hundreds of thousands of students and ordinary Chinese gathered on Tiananmen Square (a.k.a. The Gate of Heavely Peace) to demanding greater freedom and democracy. The protest lasted for seven weeks until 4 June, when the Chinese Communist leaders despatched military and tanks on the protester killing thousands.

Every year the day is commemmorated everywhere in the world, except in China.
