On August 1, 2007, Runggye Adak, a nomad from Lithang, Kham in eastern Tibet stepped on stage at a Chinese government function commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army, to present a ceremonial kata (white scarf) to the chief Lama of Lithang monastery.

Belgium will assume the Presidency of the European Union from July through December of 2010.

July 6: HH the Dalai Lama's Birthday

On 6 July, 1935 the 14th Dalai Lama was born in a remote area in eastern Tibet.

On this day, Tibetans and supporters will celebrete the day in grand fashion. In Tibet, even though public celebration is banned on this day, Tibetans will celebreate in subtle yet powerful ways: by wearing colorful Tibetan dresses; by visiting temples; by having a grand party at home.
